Hello from Oregon
I came upon this board looking for different quilting ideas and longarm quilting times. I think I'm going to look at the Bargello quilt tutorial from Barb_MO. That looks beautiful!
I've been sewing for over 40yrs and have been quilting on and off for the last 20 of those years. My mother and my aunt taught quilting classes for a number of years and I learned from them. My aunt passed a little over a year ago and I was blessed with half of her fabric stash, which my mom gave me more like 2/3 of her stash. She was housebound the last 3-5 yrs of her life and bought quilts in boxes and fabric. My share filled My SUV three times! I have quilt fabric for a lifetime. I'm a stay at home mom to a 4th grader and I'm getting into gardening. We purchased a house last May and this year is the year the entire 1600sf will be planted. Daunting to me, but as they say, go big or go home. I'm looking forward to seeing all the knowledge and hopefully sharing some my own. Thanks! |
Welcome from western NY and happy quilting :)

Welcome from the next state up!
How wonderful to come from a quilting background, I am self-taught and some basic things took me years to master, happy to share my learning from mistakes so that maybe others don't need to. I've also been quilting for about 40 years, I started as a senior in high school though so I'm not as old as I sound sometimes :p 59 this year. I think I can say for the rest of us -- we love pictures! Please share. |

Welcome from Maine. I look forward to your input and we love pictures. I grew up with my mom sewing clothing when I was real young, then she started her own leather clothing business and ran that for many years, (my parents both ride Harley Davidson's). So I was around sewing starting at a real young age. She never got the quilting bug, but I sure did. So glad you found us.

Welcome from South Louisiana. If I don't start doing some serious sewing soon, I'll be leaving that much stash for one of my daughters. The other two don't sew. V will miss me, but she'll come get every piece of fabric and batting that I have and my sewing machines and laugh all the way home.

Welcome from Waterford MI! It sounds like you will have your hands full over the next year with your gardening and quilting! These are my passions. This year was the first time in 20 years I was unable to plant a garden but next year I will be back in business. From my gardens I can fruits and veggies for the winter months. Right now quilting is keeping my busy.
You must be excited to have inherited the half of your aunt's fabric stash. I know you will put it to good use. Welcome aboard! |
