Minda 01-07-2007 08:53 AM

Great website - I really enjoyed it!

tlrnhi 01-07-2007 02:58 PM

Love your website!
I was showing my husband and you are doing EXACTLY what he wants to do WHEN I let him retire. I"m thinking I'm not showing him anymore websites.
Your adventures sound great, just wish I were somewhere that when I drove, I wasn't in the same place after driving 3 hours. Sucks living on an island!
Any pictures of the quilts you made? Plus, WHERE do you do your sewing??

Terri

Thanks!
I have some pictures of projects I've worked on in the RV here:
http://www.tinkletimes.com/sewing-projects/

The RV is pretty large, 39 fee with 4 slides outs, so I've actually got a fair amount of room to work.

tlrnhi 01-07-2007 11:29 PM

Great stuff!
Now you are making me jealous!! lol

mawmawbeve_60 01-08-2007 06:08 PM

cjtinkle 01-09-2007 03:09 AM

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm almost finished piecing the top of another quilt I'm working on, and my new Sew Ezi table should arrive Friday and make quilting it in the RV waaaaayy better! Boy am I looking forward to having a flat surface to sew on again. I've tried several times to talk hubby into letting me get the sewing machine cabinet out of storage and put in in here... somewhere, LOL but it's just too heavy and big.

Hi there, I had a look at your trailer WOW that is one beauty. Makes our one look like shed for putting bikes in. Its only 17 ft long, but then we are prohibited in Spain for having anything longer than 20ft. You would understand if you saw some of the roads (dirt tracks) and some of the villages, only one lane, We came back from Santander over the Tejada Mountains, it was beautiful but also scary. We love it though, and will be travelling in Spain and seeing the land that we have decided to call home for 5 years.

Thanks for sharing .... Elle

cjtinkle 06-09-2008 11:49 AM

Hi Elle, we're no longer in our RV! We finally bought a house again, and I'm really enjoying the sewing space. It's smaller than I'd hoped for but sure roomy compared to my sewing corner in the RV.

CJ,
I just came across your posting and checked out your website. What an awsome life! I love the thought of traveling but hubby and I are really a couple of homebodies. Just had a weeks vacation and he went fishing for a day (yuck), and I and my sister took her kids to the local zoo. LOL! Do I know how to vacation or what???
I love all your sewing. I'm working on my first quilts now. Hope to become as good as all the quilters here. They really impress me. Anyway, welcome to the site. Hoping to see more of your sewing soon.
Christine

Welcome and Hafa Adai from Guam!
I had posted to this thread before, but have since changed locations.
Can't wait to see what else you have in store for your space.

Hello and Welcome from Wa State. You'll love it here

cjtinkle 06-10-2008 05:51 AM

Christine, we weren't fulltime RV'ers for the travel :D... my hubby works as a contract engineer/project manager at nuclear power plants, and being in the RV kept us together. However, he's currently on a 6 year contract so we just bought a house.

We are homebodies too, miss our farm dreadfully, so being in a house at least has us overjoyed! And having a sewing room to boot is just frosting on the cake!

ChristineD 06-10-2008 02:25 PM

Wow, I didn't know there were that many nuclear power plants around. There are two within a 1 hour or so from my home. Cook Nuclear Plant in Michigan and 1 in Michigan City, IN, don't know the name of that one. Glad you landed in a big house and have a sewing room. Again welcome to the board.
Christine

cjtinkle 06-10-2008 02:32 PM

We've done Cook in the past, the other you're referring to is probably Palisades, my husband will be traveling there frequently during the next 5 or 6 years.

ChristineD 06-10-2008 02:46 PM

We like to go shopping at the Lighthouse Outlet Mall there. And have been to the Blue Chip Casino a time or two, but I would rather go shopping so I can come home with something that I spent my money on. Not much for the gambling. We use to go to Michigan City to catch the South Shore Rail and go spend the day in Chicago. Haven't done that in awhile. Now there is a station in South Bend to board the train. Acatually there always has been but now it is in a safer location at the airport.

cjtinkle 06-10-2008 02:51 PM

I was born in Chicago and lived there until I was 8, both my parents were born and raised there. They transplanted us kids to the Ozarks at an early age... and while I've been "through" town since then, I can't say I've really been back... don't remember hardly anything about the place, LOL.

Now I'm a bonafide Hillbilly

Marcia 06-11-2008 11:21 AM

so, Ms Tinkle, what an interesting life you have!! Welcome to the board. Feel like I know you already, just reading your blog. Please post pics of your quilt room when you get a chance. Always looking for ideas.

sondray 06-11-2008 11:33 AM

Welcome to the board CJ! Your site is wonderful. You do nice work. Hope to see you in the chat room here.

cjtinkle 06-12-2008 01:08 AM

Marcia, here's a picture of my sewing room. It's tiny, at 12 x9, but definitely roomier than the RV!

I didn't realize that ya'll had a house now. Guess I haven't been keeping up on you much. lol
I would LOVE reading all your adventures and seeing your pictures, especially the "pups".
Congrats on the house! I'm sure you are having a great time decorating and sewing for it!

cjtinkle 06-12-2008 01:26 AM

We nearly lost all 3 of the "pups" just before we moved into the house. We got one of the bags of dogfood with salmonella poisoning. It was just horrible. $3k in vet bills. But they all pulled through!

I've been posting my progress on my blog as I go, not that I'm making much headway, LOL.

That's horrible!
But, I'm glad they pulled thru. I bet they are glad they have a HOUSE instead of the RV now, huh?
They are just so cute!
