Hello everyone! I've made several blankets and other simple sewing projects (Christmas stockings, aprons, things like that), but I am new to quilting. I've made just one quilt, a simple one from a kit.

Right now I am cutting up my girls' baby clothes (*sniff, sniff* :( ) to make quilts for them, and I am also planning on making "I Spy" quilts for the grandmas as Christmas gifts.

I have a few questions, but I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find the answers. I look forward to talking to and learning from you all!

Hi Gracie, welcome aboard! Sounds like you have some good plans thought out! You will enjoy this site and learn alot from it. There is always someone who has either done what your about to do or has advice if you ask for it. Hope you have fun!

Welcome Gracie! You may want to look at Elizabeth A's quilt that she made from her daughter's clothes. As long as you use interfacing, you should be fine. We'll be looking for pictures!

Welcome Gracie:

You will find everyone here to be very helpful, don't hesitate to ask questions. I have an internet site that I've tried to gear toward new quilters, you might want to check it out.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!

I checked out Elizabeth A's quilt and I think that is WAY out of my league! It is beautiful. I am just doing 4" squares and am going to mix them up I think.

Purple passion - I am near Faribault, MN. And appliquequiltdesigns, I'll check out the site. Thanks!

Hello from Blaine. I'm somewhat familiar with the southern part of the state. Where are you located?

Hi Deb G - saw that you are from Blaine, I live in Maple Grove! We may have "chatted" before about this, but it is nice to know someone close by!

Welcome from VA.

Deb G 08-13-2008 11:31 AM

Yes mamatobugboo, we have. I thought about that after I'd sent the email.
We don't live that far from each other. When you said southern I was thinking Rochester or somewhere farther south.
Did you say in one of your posts that you were going to start a quilting business?

PuffinGin 08-13-2008 11:40 AM

Thanks for the warlm welcome everybody!

Deb G, I am near Faribault. So not too far from the Twin Cities, but not quite close enough to be a suburb.

I would love to start a qulting business, but I just received my frame yesterday so it will take a while before I am "up to snuff" to actually charge money for it! What's your favorite shop up in your area?

I have a shop almost close enough to walk to; called the Calla Lily. When I go to Princeton to visit my dd and gd I stop at Cottage Quilts and that's near Elk River.
