Hi I am new to this form. I love the variety of topics that goes on. I have been quilting for 27 yrs on and off, during the raising kids years. Once they got older I got into it more and more. They are all out of the house now. Both sons serving in the Navy and twin daughters on thier own. Now we just have a puppy for company. I also work one day a week in a quilt shop. I love that. :) I became intrested in quilting because my grandma alway was quilting. I am the only grandchild who quilts. I know my grandma was thrilled when I began to quilt because no one else was interested in it. Quilting was almost lost in the 70s. HOpe to make new friends here.

We came from Hawaii last January, now here on Guam. I'm SOOO ready to go back to the states. Your son is on submarines, I assume. Submarine Force is a very small force. You meet people at one duty station and then a few years later after you or they move, you catch up to them.
I would have loved to have had hubby get orders to Europe, but nope, didn't happen. Oh well....we are now headed into our Twilight Tour once we leave here. 13 more months and I cannot wait!!!

I work at a quilt shop named Needle -n- Thread. It is in Valpo. I only work on Satrudays. Valpo is in NW Indiana. If you ever want to come up this way let me know and I can give you directions and meet you. I am home during the week most of the time right now. (no car).

Welcome from Florida, we have lots of Navy guys down here. I too started quilting years ago and life got in my way but now all five kids are on their own and I have more time to quilt. How fun to work in a quilt shop, but how do you bring home any money?

jeanie 03-19-2009 01:24 PM

Hello, Hebron.
I live in Valpo and love Marlene and her shop. So many fun things to look at and stories to share. I'll have to stop by some Saturday and introduce myself. Hey, has she started the newsletter again? I changed mailing addresses and I think I fell off the grid. AAAARGH!!!
Anyway, good to have another NWI girl on the board.

Caroltee 03-19-2009 06:38 PM

I love Newburgh. I used to live near there in a town called New Harmony. We DH and I go to Newburgh we go to a sandwich shop there and eat outside and look at the river. I can't think of the name but they have awesome sandwiches.
Have fun visiting you daughter
