Hello

HI, my name is Tina and I'm from outside Pittsburgh, Pa. I've dreamed of owning a sewing machine since I was a child. Thanks to my hubby and kids that dream became a reality. I started learning how to use it in late April, March, well Covid happened. I taught myself how to use my machine and make masks for my family and friends. I have since moved on to pillow cases, ragged ltable topper, pet bed covers for my dogs and I've even started a crumb quilt.
My hubby and kids again surprised me 3 days ago with a vintage sewing machine they found at a thrift store. We're in the process of cleaning it up. We plugged it in and YAY it runs like a dream. I'm looking forward to learning this new machine.
I look forward to meeting and learning from you all.

Welcome to the boards and the wide world of quilting, Tina. So glad to have you here!

While I was given a nice modern machine (used from a friend) about a year ago, I've spent most of my last 30 years quilting on a machine older than I am -- and I was born in 1960. While bells and whistles are fun, really what you need to quilt is a good solid seam and the determination to follow your joy :)

Thank you all so much. I have a Singer Tradition that I've been using. The new to me machine is a White's Dressmaster. It has more feet and accessories than I know what to do with lol.
Sewing is m y new happy place and it looks like I found the perfect group.

Welcome from Southern California! Visiting the quilt shops in eastern PA has been on my bucket list. Let us know if you get to go there.

be careful with cords on vintage machines, Check them for frayed insulation. Always unplug them when they aren't in use. Oil everything that moves or should. We'd love to see pics of it.
