First of all I would like to thank you for welcoming me to your forum.

My name is Thierry, I live in France near Paris for a small part of the year and the rest in the south of the country, near the Mediterranean.

It was while looking for a sewing machine like the one my mother had in the 70s that I became interested in Singers. I first acquired a 197B that I restarted after almost completely disassembling it to clean it of its old grease and dry oils, then abundantly oiled and reassembled it. Browsing the web to gather some information, I found a magnificent 411 G that had all its accessories. I gave it the same treatment as the first one. Given the complexity of this machine for a novice using the many settings, always looking for information, I found a magnificent 191B that I quickly adopted. This one having been wonderfully maintained by a goldsmith of haute couture was quickly placed near its cousins.

Thanks to these first machines and my investigations on the net, I was able to determine that the model that my mother had must have been a 237. I remember a simple machine that had the Zig-zag. I am therefore looking for a beautiful 237 in a wooden base with a lid, as it is in my memory. This will be the opportunity for me to make a post on this subject.

Welcome Thierry! I suspect there are tons of older machines available in Europe when you start looking and asking about them. Do give us some pictures when you get a chance. Have you seen the vintage machine group here in quilting board? They can offer amazing advice if you need it for working on the machines.

Yes indeed there are many old machines here. There were several Singer factories in Europe. In France, Italy, Germany and the biggest was in England. You can still find a lot of them. I am looking for information on a particular model but I can't attach a photo. I wrote to the site administrator to try to find a solution, I am waiting for his response.

This is a 237M faired, in two hulls that I have never seen elsewhere, I have no information on this machine which seems to be an unusual model. Usually the 237 have an engine fixed at the rear on the frame when there is an engine. This model has an internal engine.

Welcome to the Board. My husband still laughs at me driving to his work and taking his truck to pick up a sewing machine and table that was the exact combination of my mother's sewing machine. It sat in the corner of our den for my entire childhood. I totally understand your joy. Older machines are a joy.

If the picture is too big in pixels, it won't upload properly. I tend to snip the picture and that snip is usually a size the QB can post. In the meantime, adding links works well, too.

I continue to search for any information concerning this 237 so special and of which no one is aware.
