Hello and welcome from soggy southeastern Michigan! I pray for your son's safety.

Hi Irish- to be honest that pattern doesn't look like a beginner at all. The elongated triangles have to be set in to the stars :( If I were you I would do that part by hand. Actually so do the nine patches.
Prayers for your son :)

Hello and welcome from SW Iowa. Glad to have you here. That does not look like a beginner pattern. Y seams and everything.

sharon b 06-06-2010 07:30 PM

I think they have that mislabeled  I do not consider Y seams a beginner pattern  But that is what you need to put it together, And not very easily by machine .

OK I just went back and looked again . I think we can break it fown a bit and make it doable for you

After you have all the "sections" ready. Start with sewing on the Yellow sections. Start on the corner of the brown/red star ( pick one side ) and sew one side on , sew all the way . Then go to the other side and do the same. Do this for all 4 of them . Once those are all on then you should be able to go back and add on the 9 patches. For those also start in a corner and sew out, be sure to catch the yellow sections as you go. You can pin these together to make sure , you catch them .

Does this make sense ?
