I have no idea how to quilt but beloved quilt went missing and Im on a mission to replace it. I have three children ages 14, 10, & 6. My husband works out of town a lot so I have loads of time on my hands to learn.
I have no idea where to start. So far I have decided Im in love with Breakfast at Tiffany's by Moda for my fabric choice. French hand sewing by machine in my passion but I miss my quilt and the store bought ones just are not holding like my old girl did. I had no idea there were so many beautiful quilt patterns out there. Im slowly becoming obsessed, Im already planning my next 6 quilting project. I just bought graph paper and colored pencils so I could draw out ideas.....is it possible to own too many quilts??? Spring |

Welcome aboard! I read your comment on the other thread about backing over your sewing machine. I think you can call yourself a quilter already. I got a good laugh out of that.
As far as not knowing where to start- have you discovered quilting blogs yet? One of the best IMO is crazy mom quilts. http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/ She has some very clearly written tutorials. Also, Moda Bake Shop has a lot of tutorials for their precut fabrics. http://www.modabakeshop.com/ I design my quilts like you are- with graph paper and colored pencils. My kids know NOT to touch mom's colored pencils! LOL! I think you already have enough sewing skills to do this! If you just jump in and post topics on here when you get stuck I am very confident that you will get awesome answers and encouragement. Also, you can check quilting books out from the library! Happy day when I figured that out! |

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I don't feel lost anymore with all the great help I have already received. This afternoon I got the guts to go ahead and pull out some scraps and started a pinwheel sampler quilt. The block are nice and big so I need to only make 16 and I will have a big enough quilt to carry in my car for all those last minutes picnics I have been know to take....Everytime we are sitting in the dirt I tell my family...Next time I will have a quilt made. This summer I will have several because this is FUN! |
