Hello from Washington, DC

Every time I had a question about quilting and I Googled it, it sent me to the QuiltingBoard! So I figured that with so many smart, inspiring quilters here I needed to join. So here I am!

I am a newbie quilter. I've made 4 so far: two baby quilts for friends and two twin-sized quilts for my guest room. I LOVE this hobby. Had I known I would love it so much, I might have bought a better sewing machine. I'm hoping to upgrade soon.

I love reading quilting blogs, collecting quilting books, and finding good deals on beautiful fabric. I'm afraid I do a little more dreaming than quilting.

I am a mom and a novelist who loves to quilt between projects. It helps get my mind off things. When I am in front of that machine, all my worries disappear!!

Thanks for building such a terrific community. I'm thrilled to be here!

I love reading these welcomes! Folks all over the world united by the love of something. It's a beautiful thing. I wish the Internet had more of this kind of energy.

Welcome to the Quilting Board from Nevada! We're thrilled to have you! Don't worry about how many quilts you've made. It's not as if you have a quota to fill. You're doing this because you love it, and that's all that matters. You're no less a quilter if you make 4 a year than if you make 14 a year. It's the love of the art form.

I do not find it surprising that a writer would choose quilting as a hobby. Both are so creative. They complement each other. One is more manual and visual than the other, although depending on your writing muse, there could be synergy there as well. I know because I also write, and have taught creative writing, and I "see" my characters in action. The quilting is a complete break from the writing, yet it still keeps my creative juices flowing. It's awesome!

You will love the combined knowledge and experience on this Quilting Board, as well as the member's willingness to share and be helpful. We are also a lot of fun!
