Hello from Washington state!

Hey all!
I'm Aesther--people call me Aes, some call me Bixby, so feel free to do as you please with that. Im 26, married to a lovely man, have a small feind for a cat, and have always loved crafting.

My father taught me how to knit when I was 7 or so, and I've recently been dabbling with the idea of crochet and needlepoint works. I've finally dipped back into the world of sewing this past weekend, with a mystery machine buy at a goodwill near me--and that need to know more about it is what brought me here! I posted last night, but the mod deleted it because of a link to an imgur gallery with all the machine images--so I've reposted, and am hoping for the best.

Hand-sewing is something I picked up naturally in my teens, and with my aunt Pam being a seamstress, I was at it for quite a few years until life got in the way. My husband hand-sewed stuffed toys for a while when he was young, and is just as enthused as I to get back into it.

Currently, I'm in bed, watching the sky get slowly darker as I decide whether or not to start my day with food, or a shower. My cat (Nyx, after the greek personification of night, what with being nearly pure black,) is lying on my feet, and my husbands alarm is just now going off.

Ah, a graveyard shift family.

I hope you're all doing well, I look forward to connecting and creating with people here!

Hello and welcome from the Seattle area, or more properly Renton. I also have cats, and in similar way I have computer role playing game characters, one of whom is named Nyxes! (had to have more than 3 letters)

I'm not big on handwork -- more power to you, but I am a power thrift store shopper. Maybe we have already met over in the fabric selections...

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! I hope you will dabble in this art and craft of quilting as you go. Sounds so much like me. Knitting early on and doing had sewing as a kid and young teen and sewing my own clothes before I was in High School. I didn't start quilting until I was in my late 30's. Once I started quilting there was no turning back. I hope you jump right in and enjoy the conversations. Again welcome to the QB.

Waving hello from Maryland!

Three Dog Night 02-26-2020 06:50 PM

Hello from Snohomish, just a few miles north of you, we have a fantastic quilt shop here, Quilting Mayhem. They have classes in almost everything you can imagine, lots of fabric, notions and machines. I have been in Hawaiian quilting group (hand applique) and a Westalee ruler group for a couple of years and love the ladies in both; not to mention Mindy and her wonderful staff who are so helpful. There are a lot of shops in the Seattle area and a couple of great quilt shows coming soon. Quilters Anonymous at the Monroe fairgrounds in March and the Everett Quilt show in Everett in May.

Welcome from your neighbor in Oregon City, Oregon! Enjoy your time with us...a politheria of information, for sure.

To second ThreeDogNight, I made a post in the off line events about the Quilters Anonymous show, it's a great show. Back in the 80s, I used to live out at the county line between Duvall and Monroe, so my old stomping grounds and not that far from Bothell and if you haven't been to the Ben Franklin in Monroe yet, it's one of your better shopping points.
