Hi all! My name is Lois Marks and I live in the beautiful hills of West Virginia, in a little place called Burning Springs, "don't blink going through or you will miss it" ;-) I am kinda a self taught quilter. I remember the quilts my mom and grandma had and always wanted to make quilts. My boys are now grown and I have quit my job to be at home with my dad. This winter I plan to do a lot more quilting than in the past. When I was working 10 hours a day there wasn't much time for it. I usually machine piece and then have my quilts machine quilted but plan to do some hand quilting this year. I have done a little but want to get better at it. I love the old time patterns and quilting the best. Now if I can just get started on something. I love looking at the ideas on this site and I think that will get me going.

Welcome from NM. Have visited West Virgina and remember it as green and beautiful. There are a lot of hand quilters on this board that will help you if needed on your venture into hand quilting.

HI and welcome from Alaska.

Welcome from the middle of California. Born and raised in Milton, also a "blink and you're past it" town.
My Grandma made quilts simply because of sheer necessity, you know how cold it gets there. Those lovely feed sacks went mostly for dresses for me, aprons for her and sometimes curtains for kitchen windows. You will like it on this forum, there are so many talented people here who will help you along whatever pattern trail you want to go on. |
I have the Pumpkin Festival cookbook from Milton. I am north of Milton. And yes the quilts do help to keep you warm around here. But I so love the changing of the seasons. I am sure I am going to enjoy this board.
