I've been watching this forum site for several months and have loved it so I wanted to belong 'formally'.

I have been quilting for two years. I am also a cross stitcher. I'd go to quilting retreats that friends of mine put together and I'd always cross stitch while they quilted. They told me I'd get the bug but I'd just laugh.

Two years ago I got the bug! Just can't shake it now. :)

Welcome. Cross stitch makes a wonderful center for a quilt.
The best of both worlds!

Welcome from NE Indiana. My 3rd quilt was a log cabin with the center of each block a cross stitch heart (24 of them). Fun to combine.

I was there too! Wasn't it amazing fun. The quality of the quilts for judging is amazing and inspiring. I found a picture of the Viewer's Choice award.

Thank you everyone for your welcomes. I'm going to like it here and I know I'll learn a lot. I will have to be careful about watching my computer time or my quilting time will suffer.

I live in Berlin, which is about 20 minutes west of Oshkosh. Whitewater is my alma mater! Great, great memories of Whitewater.

Welcome from Springfield, OR, Love the idea of putting cross stitch in a quilt. "Fine line between hobby and mental illness" yep that nails it. We are all a bunch of enablers.

And a big HELLO from another in Wisconsin ... in pocket of country near Mukwonago. I, too, am a long-time cross-stitcher and red/bluework embroidery. Just learning to do applique for quilts, so will have choice of handwork while sitting in evenings!

Welcome from another Wisconsin quilter. You're right about limiting your computer time so that you don't lose quilting time. But, if you're learning things from this board, I'd say it's well worth the time.
