Hi everyone, I just went to our local Joann's and could not bellieve the prices :-( I am a craft instructor for a local senior center and i need to find a good place to find resonable priced fabric. our local walmart has done away with their fabric dept!!! the members in my craft class are not going to be able to afford Joann's prices. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Hello and Welcome to the board :D:D:D

You can sign up for Joann's sales flyer online, and for one to be sent in the mail. Those 50% coupons come in really handy
Maybe you could get a few friends to meet you there and you could buy yardage that way...
Each person can bring in an online coupon and a mailed/coupon from the paper.

Many of us shop online, catching clearance sales too :D:D:D

Hello sara, I was wondering if there were any quilters in Delaware! I belong to the Sr Ctr here in the Annapolis,Md area. So far there is only one Walmart here that has left the fabric in the store. Joanns has raised their prices some, but they do have good sales and of course the coupons you can get online as well as sign up for a mailer too! That is the way I go for the most part. I have ordered some from online and gotten some from Ebay.
I can understand that at the Sr Ctr income is a priority and shopping is limited for most. Another thing you can do is place an ad for gifted material for the Sr Ctr from anyone who wishes to donate from their stash or scraps! You would be surprised what you might get! Craigslist or in local ads for a start. Good Luck

Sharon

You might let Joannes know what you are doing and maybe you can get an additional discount or get them to donate some of the leftovers.

I signed up for JoAnns online and in the store so I get the flyers all the time. Also, our sunday newspaper usually has a flyer in it every week ....If I'm lucky I get more than one in the paper. I never buy fabric without my coupons.

sara619 07-20-2010 02:35 AM

thanks, looks like they have good sale prices

Marshall's Dry Goods is very reasonably priced and have great fabric and service.

fabric.com has great sales, and an everythings $1.95 department; i have been buying fabric from them for over 10 years and have had great luck, had great deals. they offer free shipping for order's over $35 which is easy to reach (it's like getting an extra yard or more free :)

if you sign up for the fabshophop on line you will have a list of something like 180 different quilt shops around the country...great way to find new resources.

I buy from Fabric Land-on line. They often have sale fabric.

Welcome from Idaho! I am happy that you joined the board. You will love this site and make great friends with the quilters on it!

I buy online at Thousands of Bolts, Aunt Bea's, and Hancocks of Paducca. Quilt in a Day also has nice fabrics for great prices.
