Hi from Ms.

A warm welcome from New York.
Learned this tip when my babies were in diapers long before disposable ones came out. Still use it today. If no soap is available rub the pin tip on your scalp and that helps it to go through the fabrics easier...you just have to repeat the process when it becomes dull again as you would with the soap.

Thanks for the great tip. Welcome from Massachusetts!

I will have to try that. I think I still have a couple of bars of soap left. I don't use them in the shower anymore, prefer the shower gels. I think I will wrap the bar in a pretty fabric scrap and stitch it closed to make it more decorative. Maybe even add some trim. You may have started a new fad.

My mother taught me to use soap for diaper pins to keep them sharp and smooth. I stopped doing this when my children grew. What a great idea for quilting pins.

You can also use it to helps drawers open and close easier, just run the bar on the bottom rails of your drawer, or run the soap bar on a squeaking fan belt - when vehicle not running of course. No More Squeak... Thanks for that great tip.

Welcome and you will love the warm helpful people on Quilt Board, they are really a great bunch.
