I'm new to the board---referred by a friend. Right now I'm collecting more fabric than quilting as I work full time and just don't have the time I'd like to devote to making quilts! LOTS of "someday" projects planned. Anyone else from Central MS on here???

Hi, and welcome from Southern California. I can sympathize with you on not enough time to quilt. I also have a full time job, so only get to work on fun things about an hour each night, and on weekends when other things in life don't take over. You will find lots of helpful people and inspiration here.

Welcome to the board from Southern California!
Many of here are great fabric collectors, or curators of a textile collection. |

I grew up in Brandon and went to college in Columbus. But I'm currently living in Des Moines, IA. And we're getting more snow tonight, pushing 60 inches so far this winter... and the snowiest month is ahead of us!
|
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!that is some snow. We had about an inch Wednesday. Sure was pretty. My first school was Brandon. When I went there Mary Ann Mobley did also, of course she was a few grades a head of me. Our Miss America in case you don't remerber her. Nice hearing from someone on this from my state. Take care,SueLynn
|
Yes, I graduated from BHS in 1980 and they still had a photo of Mary Ann in full Miss America regalia in the trophy case. Haven't been back to the HS since, although I have gone back to Miss. (just not since 1995!). My classmates are plotting our 30th reunion this spring, but I don't want to make a long trip just for that.
Can you believe we had even more snow this morning? It was pretty awful and we almost got in a car wreck on the way to church, the snow banks are so tall that drivers can't see oncoming traffic. :( |
Hello & Welcome from the state of Washington!! :D We are so glad to have you joining us!! :D
|
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! According to the MQA, I'm located in SW MS not Central!!! I work in downtown Jackson so I have a good bit of driving each day. Hubby and I carpool.

Where exactly is Carlisle, MS? I could look it up on a map I guess. I just am not familiar with the Carlisle area. I see on the Board that there are quilteres from Richton, Hattiesburg, Carlisle and of course Decatur, Ms area, as that is where I live. I do not belong to the MQA, but might attend sometime. S. Hey Sue Lynn, I work right off hwy 11. There is a quilt shop on 98 Kelley's Pins and Needles and Hancocks Fabric is going to move the middle of March just in case you didn't know it. They will be out on 98 next to Gander Mountain. Smart move, while the hubby is shopping so can you....
I went to the quilt shop in DeKalb MS Saturday with some of my quilt buddies, then we went to JoAnn's in Meridian. It opened up last November. They had some pretty fabric but the quilt shop in DeKalb has tons and tons of it. Maybe some day you can go with us. Her fabrc ranges from $3.98 to $7.98. Kellye will send you an email with her specials. Two weeks ago she had a 50% off sale on most of what was in the store Does the walmart in Wiggins still have fabric? |
Yes Wiggins WM still has fabric.(not much) Thanks for letting me know about Hancock. I wish we still had JoAnn's.Sounds like a winner. Shopping I mean!!!!!!!!!!! Talk later. My computer has to be worked on,so it might be a few days before I can use it. SueLynn.

Carlisle is a community close to Hermanville (which is our zip code) It is off of Hwy 18 coming out of the Raymond/Utica area going down towards Port Gibson. I guess we'd be considered south of Vicksburg also. Where's decatur? |
Hi from Oregon and and I agree it's so hard to find all the time I need to sew!
|
Welcome from california.
