I'm a newby to all of this. The objective is to learn to quilt. I can sew, crochet, and knit, but didn't have the time to learn quilting until now. I've gone as far as purchasing material for the project (pattern in hand) but seem to have lost my nerve when it comes to actually sewing the pieces together. Is there a site on the computer that actually shows you someone starting from scratch. It seems that everything I've seen on TV starts at intermediate level and above.

If you can sew, you've got a good head start. Piecing is like sewing, and quilting is very similar, with the batting in the middle. Start out simple, with small projects, like place mats and lap quilts. Use straight lines at first, then work your way up to curved lines, both on the piecing and the quilting. Just like you did with sewing. What pattern do you have?

The Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day book series are great for beginners as they have lots of pictures for start to finishing a quilt.

Hi from New Hampshire! Take a deep breath and cut. The world will not fall apart, I promise. Now take another deep breath and cut again. It gets easier.

Welcome!! First and foremost is getting an accurate 1/4" seam. It takes practice but is achievable, you can use tape on your machine to mark 1/4" and it may help you to be consistent. Good luck and enjoy, quilting is a great creative outlet. :-D
