Hi from Clifton Park, New York in the Albany/Saratoga Region

For years quilting held no appeal for me. I made clothing for myself and my children, knitted, crocheted, cross stitched, and did crewel embroidery. Why, I wondered, would I want to cut fabric into tiny pieces just to sew them back together. In the early 90s one of my daughters, who didn't sew of course, announced that she was going to make a wedding quilt, a fan quilt of all ambitious patterns, and that I had to help her - first of all by teaching her to sew. By the way, although Deb has made a number of quilts, that first one was never finished. It took a few years for me to get really bitten by the quilt virus although a couple of baby quilts were made and I cut strips for a log cabin that also has never been finished. A lot of other quilts have been completed and my UFO pile and stash have grown to the point that the rule is to alternate finishing a UFO before moving on to a new project. Another daughter quilts too and she is a member of this group. As an artist she was interested at first in the colors and then she too was infected with this incurable virus. My quilting preferences run to traditional patterns but I love to play with new techniques to make complicated patterns from simple blocks like 4 patches and 9 patches. I like working from photos to create fabric landscapes. My newest challenge is making miniature blocks.
