Welcome from Southern California! My mother's father's parents were from Switzerland, also. I need to find out exactly where. No one is sure when my great grandfather came over, but my great grandmother came over in 1892.

This is a fun site - hopefully you will enjoy it too.

If you have been a garment sewer, then you will do fine following directions for a quilt.

I've worked with exchange students as well, there are some great programmes! We had one girl from Argentina whose ancestors came from the Vaud/Wallis region (she still had the last name) and she did some research on them as well. Let me know when your daughter ever comes to Switzerland, I might be able to give her a few pointers (and we also have a sofa bed, just in case! :D)!

I haven't sewn any garments in years. But that's ok, I don't really follow patterns anyway, I enjoy to make them up myself! :)

Yes, please do find out! Wouldn't it be fun to find out that we're somehow distantly related?:D (Slim chance though, I guess!)
