Hi, I am from a little mountain town in Arizona
My name is Loretta, sewing is nothing new to me, but quilting is. I have seven sewing machines(all vintage) and a serger, that I have never used much. I am hoping to get some advice on quilting and on using a serger. My first question is can the knives on a seger be sharped? Thank you.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Sorry I don't own a serger so I don't know if the blades can be sharpened.

Welcome from northern Colorado. I do not believe you can sharpen the cutting knives on a serger. You will have to purchase new ones. Sometimes they just get a lot of fuzz on them. Lift the upper knife so you can see it and clean it good, then clean the lower knife. Use a Q-tip of even a bit of steel wool to keep from cutting yourself.

Welcome from Central California. This is the best second family you could wish for; people are so helpful and generous in so many ways.

Welcome to the Board. Yes, a serger blade/knife can be sharpened, but it needs to be done by someone that knows what they're doing, it's easier though, just to get a new blade. I'm wondering why it's dull though, my serger probably has a million miles on it, and it's still on the original blade and it's still sharp.

No idea about the serger but hello and welcome from Perth, Western Australia.
