Hi, I have been watching from the background for a long time. Now I think it is time to talk to all of you. I bought an embroidery sewing machine because I wanted a serger. Then when taking classes for that I saw them quilting. So took a class to quilt. Now I have many quilts pieced but not many quilted.
My first problem tho, is I saw the note about the $5000 sewing machine. I got on craigs list for my area and guess what. There was a 1921 electric Singer. in a box. Don't know the condition but they only want 50 for it. I don't even know if it works. Would any of you buy it? Could I use it to sew my quilts? They just wrote back to me saying it is still for sale. What do I do???? tessa-rie |

I would say it just depends on what you want to sew on. I have used nothing but old Singers just because I like them and I like to keep my hobby cheap. I have several old singers because if I find them cheap I can't say no.

Welcome from Oregon and a former Illinoisan. If the machine seems to be in fairly good shape, I would pick it up. Ask Lostn51, too. He's our vintage machine expert.
