Welcome from Ontario, Canada. If you have cut your pieces accurately and sewed good 1/4 inch seams, there are a few things you can try. Iron the top with spray starch and see if that helps. Dampen the quilt top with a spray bottle and block the top out on a clean surface to dry. Use an extra high loft batt to hid the puffy parts when quilting it. If you are able to post a picture of it, someone might be able to offer more specific advice.

Welcome! I think if you put your question in the "Main" section, you will get a lot more help to your question. A couple people here have offered help but you may find additional ideas there. I have no suggestions to offer unfortunately. I think you will enjoy it here though.

Welcome from Spring, Texas. I think Tartan gave you some great tips. The first thing to know though is never "iron" pieces for a quilt. Press - which means drop the iron down and let it sit for a sec. Don't use the traditional rubbing motion. Set it down and pick it up. To flatten fabric, dampen slightly and press each peace. You will immediately see a difference. "Ironing" can easily stretch pieces which will become a nightmare when you piece them into other pieces and once you stitch that stretched piece in - sorry charlie. That should help a lot.

Welcome from Indiana!

I agree with the PRESSING recommendation. I think a thicker/denser polyester batting will help hide some of those imperfections.

Are the fabrics made up the same? 100% cotton; 80/20; 50/50 poly/cotton? Permanent Press versus 100% cotton? That could make a difference.

You state that you're 'new' at quilting. Are your seams consistent? 1/4" (or whatever you used). If some of stitching is done at 1/4" and then goes up to 1/2" and back down to 1/4" (visualize a wave) . . . that will definitely make for a wavy quilt.

Post some pictures if you have time.
