Hi there!
My name is Lee Ann and I'm a new quilter. Just moved to Kansas from Arizona as my husband joined the army. I have a little boy that is almost two. I started a quilt in 2006. It's very pretty, but I can't figure out how to finish the top. I go frustrated with it and put it away. Life happened and now 4 years later I am itching to finish it and quilt on a regular basis. I don't have a 'real' quilting machine, just a Brother 270D. ( Embroidery machine) but its great I love it! Have not figured out how to use the larger embroidery hoop for larger designs....My mother however has a husqvarna that she has never used, she is thinking about giving it to me for Christmas (fingers crossed!) Below are some pictures of my quilt. I was thinking of taking the green off ( since i dont have enough anyway) and doing a scalloped border? I have questions about everything! Paisley Paradise (for love of licorice pattern) |
That was a hard project for a new quilter. Nice job.

Hi and welcome!
I also have a 270D and I can tell you that it pieces a very accurate 1/4" seam. In fact, it is more accurate than my other machines, so I use it almost exclusively to piece tops. This is using the J foot, I believe. Also, it will not work with any hoop large than the 4 inch hoop it comes with. It will work with a couple of the smaller ones, but nothing larger. If you wanted to make a larger design, you would have to break it into sections. |

Welcome from the Mississippi Delta. Wow, you sure picked a hard one with all those curves for your first quilt, but it's looking great! The scalloped borders might be pretty, but wouldn't that be more difficult than straight borders?

Welcome from another Kansan. I have made several quilts like this but I am a handquilter so can't help much if you plan to machine quilt it. It looks like you have done a wonderful job with your quilt and I wish you well in finishing your project. I go south to Arizona in the winter time but always return to Kansas in the spring.
