Hi quilters, im new! Can u help me out?:)

Good day and happy spring & equinox! Im new to quilting, got the quilting addiction omg my life will never be tge same! I have been practicing with little steps of success, and have come up against a creating quandry. Finally, I have pieced/sewn these 10" blocks, im so proud of my near perfect 1/4" seem allowances, nearly straight lines measured and sewn, in great part thanks to the chats n videos of you all! But how to put em all together into table runners 7 ft long? Sashing? Borders? Diagonal cuts? Im overwhelmed because nothing looks "right". Know what i mean? Help me?

Are you working from a pattern‽ if not, Google table runner with 10 inch squares..

Photo is 2mg but not uploading

The blocks are strips of 5 at 2.5 inch wide, pastel, in order of yellow, pink, purple blue and green. I have 8 of those. And 2 scrappy logcabins of the same fabric with .5 to 1.5 inch strips.

Try using a contrasting, commonly called a pop, color as sashing and/or border. A white on black print, or much darker color of one of the ones in your blocks could be what makes all the colors act nicer together. Google Quilted Table runner with sashing and you will see many examples. You could float your blocks by putting a sashing between them and use the same color as a border.

Tip: Take 1 each of your blocks to a fabric store and lay them out on the fabrics you are considering. And don't be afraid to be try colors you think won't go with them.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! Glad you are joining us here. How many blocks did you make? Much will depend on this and the length you want for your table runner. A 2.5" strip is what is usually used as a sashing between each block. Then adding a long strip on each side the length of your table runner also using a 2.5 " strip. You may need wider strips since your block is a 10" I would also lay out a paper cut out of the 10" and the 2" ( finished) strip just to give you an idea of what the finish will look like. Have bunches of fun with this.
Getting the quilting bug is a wonderful thing to catch. I have it too and have had it for more than 30 years. I am far from the perfect quilter but I so love quilting that it takes up the majority of my time. Again welcome to the BQ. Stay around and have loads of fun.,
