Hi Quilting Friends!
I have acquired an Elna Carina machine from a girlfriend. It was her mom’s machine. It sits within a cabinet. My question is how to lower the feed dogs? I found the free motion foot within the attachments. Any ideas to help?
Thanks 😊 |
First let me welcome you to the QB from SE Michigan! I did a bit of looking around for the manual for your machine and there are several models of the Elna Carina. here is a link for some of the manuals that might help you find what you are looking for: https://manualsoncd.com/elna-carina-...l-added-10815/. I believe starting with the manual for your partictular model is the best place to begin. If you have the model manual start there. There is a lot on the net to get you going once you have the model of your Elna Carina. Best of luck. Jump right in and join the fun. Some one else here may be able to help you more I am sure of this.. Again welcome to the QB.

I looked at the link Juliasb provided but couldn't tell enough from what I can see.
Not all machines have feed dogs you can drop, my old vintage machine had a "darning plate" to achieve the same thing. It's metal and has slits for the feed dogs but they don't go above the metal, then it has two holes in the bobbin cover the darning plate hooks into. Unfortunately for me, the darning plate was lost before I got the machine and so for some 20-30 years of quilting everything I did was feed dog engaged. My current Cheapo Brother which is working while my expensive machine needs to go to the shop is very low end, it doesn't even have adjustable stitch length, just a dial for "shorter" or "longer" options -- not to make them shorter or longer but just to switch to their preset lengths. |
Welcome to the quilting board. Hope you can find a way to lower the feed dogs, but if you can't, you can always cover them.....
