Hi from Texas

Hi everyone! I'm new to quilting and look forward to chiming in on the boards from time to time and to ask LOTS of questions. Lol.
Although I am new to quilting, I learned to sew over 50 years ago when I was very young. I've sewn clothes mostly, but I've also sewn lots of things for the home too. I used to do embroidery and look forward to picking back up with that too. I still have a full time job but look forward to retirement when I can spend more time sewing. I tried to attach a pic of the quilt i am working on now. The additional designs are just pinned on. I think I am going to do them with embroidery but haven't completely decided yet. |

Btw, I am going to add the dark brown as a border and bind with the same fabric. |
Welcome Sharon. Your project is looking very good. Being at home soon will definitely give you more sewing time. Make good use of it. Enjoy the forum!! I just got on again. Updates create havoc at times and i was out for months. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png

Welcome aboard, Sharon. That's a lovely top with or without the accents. I think the dark binding would be perfect.
Sewing skills are quilting skills, but it can take time to get used to that 1/4" seam allowance. Maybe not as hard these days as before sergers as home options, but when I started sewing as a child, it looked impossibly tiny next to a garment seam. And kudos for being able to post pictures, we do love the pictures :) waving from a safe personal space near Seattle |
Hello and Welcome!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Looking lovely!

Welcome from Houston, Sharon! I, too, started sewing making clothes on my mom's old Singer 301. I still make clothes and also quilts. And, I still use the 301 for pieicing. I'm also picking up embroidery after many years of not doing any. I've discovered an awesome site for learning new stitches and getting ideas. It's Pintangle.com
Happy Stitching |
Welcome from Michigan!:)

Hi Iceblossom. Cute name! Thanks for your welcome to the board. Yes, these 1/4" seams look too small. Lol. I'm very grateful to my 1/4" foot. Lol

Hi Cashs_mom. Too bad we're so far apart. I'm in the DFW area... Arlington to be exact. Not far from the Cowboy stadium. I have one of my mom's old sewing machines. A Kenmore. Can't remember which model but it's a great machine. I need to take it in for a check up. Last time I used it it was acting up. It is a real workhorse. I've sewn some really heavy fabric on it. It's way past due a visit to Dr. Sew so I'm sure she'll be a lot happier afterwards. Lol. Thanks for the embroidery link. I am definitely checking it out! Thanks for the welcome!

Hi and welcome! I'm on the far side of Dallas from you. When things get back to normal, maybe we can meet at a quilt show in Dallas someday. I like the colors in your bargello design - nice start!

Hi Rose_P. I used to live in Mesquite and my daughter lives in Forney now. After I retire I want to move over to that side of the metroplex, if I can work it out. It would be nice to be closed to her and her family. I would love to get together sometime. Sounds fun! Thanks for the welcome!
