Hi there from Leavenworth, WA!
I have recently semi-retired and now finally have time to return to my sewing passion! I have sewn my entire life and for years have been piecing on my 40-year old Riccar (which I have loved) and hand quilting my quilts. The hand-quilting is beautiful but so time consuming. I started one quilt to go in my new house that we were building and I finished it 8-years later when we sold the house :) I now want to begin machine-quilting and have decided to purchase a new machine. I am in sticker shock, oh my, but after visiting a local dealer, I am feeling drawn to a Janome 8900. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Mary, welcome from NE Ohio. I bought the 8900 last month and absolutely love love love it. Good luck shopping for a new machine.

I love Leavenworth. It is where I met my DH for the first time. Welcome and hope you enjoy being here. I don't know about Janomes but if I were upgrading I would lean towards a Juki. But, I would recommend being patient and looking on craigslist for a good used machine. Especially since you are so near the Seattle area.

Welcome from Oregon. Really don't have any advice about the machine, I piece and FM on a Brother 1500S. We all grow to love the machines we have, whatever you decide, have fun.
