I am a new machine embroider(er). I like quilts with small squares of delicate stitching. I have never made a quilt, and I am the kind of person who wants to know all about it before doing it. I have many designs to use, and I need to get started. I have purchased the material. All I need to do is cut the squares and start stitching. But I want to view a video I bought from Nancy Z first. I have watched quilts being make on tv, but that is a different story. One question is what kind of batting should I use for a light quilt without a lot of loft?
I live in SE Tennessee, USA. I am married to my high school sweetheart for 47 years. We have two grown sons and four grandchildren. I am a Christian, retired teacher, pianist, artist, and hobbiest. I can't behave like my age cause there is so much I want to do. But lately asthma has had me down. That has to go. I have too much to do to worry about that.
Glad to be here, Sandy

I'm so glad you're here. I like your attitude. I too don't have time to let anything stop me from what I love doing. There is so much more.
You'll find lots of friends here and answers are just an email away. Happy stitching!

You all certainly are friendly folks. I am so glad to be here. I am thinking of making a felt blanket embroideried with Christmas designs for each of my gkids. I love to machine embroider.
I am putting in a picture of my baby, Duke.. He is our little white Maltese. He owns us, and we understand ever word he says.

Hi and welcome, your gonna love the gals(and guys) they are all very helpful. I use walmart batting alot. But if you intend to do a lot of quilts buy it by the bolt at joanns, its much cheaper that way. They often have 50% off coupons in there flyers or you can get them online. I stay away from cotton batting its hard to quilt because its so dense. Poly is my fave low loft. Theres no right or wrong just personal preference. I too do machine embroidery. Made my mom a quilt using my embroidery machine, she just loves it. Ive got another that I put together when I first got he machine just trying to figure out how to do things. Still havent quilted it because its kinda put together odd. You know one of those I've got these pieces lets see what I can do and it really doesnt look right. Good luck with your quilt, hope to see a picture of it soon!
