Hello every one. I just discovered sewing, quilting and art quilts all in the same year. I'm so excited. I have a ton of questions and so much to learn.

Welcome to this little corner of heaven. Isn't quilting great? I need a few more hours in the day to accomplish everything I want to do.

Me, too, Julie! If the eyes and the body would just stay strong enough with the extra hours.

Welcome Spokane girl/in heaven, you've found the right place for questions and answers.

Inheaven, you are going to be busy for the rest of your life, and no matter how long that life is, you will never get done with all of the new projects you are going to want to do. Welcome!!

Don't I know it. I can't look at pictures now with out being inspired, and God forbid my hubby finds out exactly what I'm spending. I'll be in big trouble.

Most of us can relate to the overspending aspect of quilting. I know I am always in hot water that way, but I gotta have more. I want it all. What types of fabric do you look for to do your art quilts? And what is your name??

Right now I have a love affair with Batik but I also love calico for large quilts and black and white fabrics. Who am I kidding I love them all!

:D I agree with you totally. Quilting in the beginning was just a new craft for me (that was 20 Years ago). Now it's my sanity, calmness, and at times just a strong lifeline when things get to tough. It got me through both of my children growing up and moving out and the emptynestsyndrome. I did a lot of crying, then I went to work purging and reconstructing their room into MY QUILTING HAVEN. I still miss them but get a lot of comfort being in that room doing what I love.
Thank goodness for the person that started this quilting fever.

Why didn't God create an extra 24 hhour day just for us quilters?

lin 09-27-2007 12:38 PM

HA! That's a good question mar.

Welcome Nina. I'm so glad you've joined us. Can't wait to get to know you better. :)

I love to see the enthusiam of new quilters. Welcome to everyone who is just beginning to dabble in the fine art! It would expensive to start out with all the latest, greatest, finest and wonderful gadgets that are needed. I buy one or two at a time and have a pretty good useful collection, but getting geared up isn't cheap. Just remember those old great-grandmother type pioneers that had scissors, thread and needle! Enjoy! Sara

Hey your husband doesn't need to know everything! When mine ask about what something cost I just say "It is best if you don't ask." and he has learned that it is best. But if he insist I just tell him" I am still working on his last golf cart or new set of clubs"--and that takes care of that!

Haha...A lady I met at a quilt shop told me that when your husband asks how much your goodies costs you...tell him it's cheaper than couples therapy. LOL.

Welcome to the family, Nina!
