Welcome! I have no advice for storage and organization. I couldn't organize my way out of a paper bag. Everything goes in a tub, I only just last week purchased a tub Just for left over squares, strips, and scraps.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas. I'm from Portland, Oregon. I really lke the idea of using the zip-lock bags and the space bags. The room that I will be using as my sewing room does have a closet and already has shelves and some drawers. Can't wait to get everything setup and organized.

Hello and welcome, someone suggested using skirt hangers and this is a good idea but I use drapery hangers from the cleaners, they are heavy duty hangers with a large cardboard roll on it about 1" diameter. You mentioned a new home and wanted to share what I did in my sewing room. I hung 10" wide shelves 11" from the ceiling with shelf brackets that hold a wooden closet rod. I use the shelves for all my quilting books and magazine then on the rod I hang all of my projects and pressed fabric for the project I'm working on.
