I'm Back!!!

Hi all,

I guess I'm not really "new" to the boards. I used to be very active on the boards several years ago and because life got in the way I have not sewed much! I went off the boards 3 years ago-when I started teaching. I am happy to be back, although I don't sew nearly as much as I would like. I'm hoping I can get re-inspired by the boards again. I have a new nephew due in August and my brother is getting married in October, so I have some quilts I need to get busy on. I am now completely done with my schooling (I hope!-2 clear special ed credentials and a master's degree). I'm hoping this accomplishment gives me my life back. I teach students with profound autism, so I NEED a stress reliever on my off time.

I can't say that I remember you, although I have been reading the board for a long time. However, I wish you well as you return. I taught school, as well, but not special ed kids.

Hi Magnolia,
I remember you from years back. Like you, my more recent board time has been hit or miss but I'm trying to be a bit more regular lately. Also like you, I've been a special ed teacher - LOVE autism as a uniqueness - but have recently gone for another master's degree in counselling psychology and now have a whole new interaction with students as a counsellor. My quilting has evolved in that I always finished my quilts but now have collected some UFOs. Not sure how to fix this.

hmm, yes. I always finished my quilts too...or so I thought! Who knew I had a whole drawer full of UFOs?!?! Including 1 from one of the Round Robins I participated in. Looks like I've got some work to do!

I have sewn my way into more UFO's than I every thought possible....over 40. I am sewing my way out of this quandary and can NOT start any new projects until 20 are complete. I have high aspirations to finish the 20 in 2015. So far, I've only finished 7. I've got a long way to go.

Edited to add: Welcome back Magnolia. This is the place to be inspired and if you don't have much time to sew, come drop by and the beautiful quilts and other projects will inspire you.

Welcome back to the Board. I, like you, need something to motivate me to sew again.
I've been ill the past year, and reading was my past time. I'd like to use up some of my stash before going to the "bone yard".

Bless you for working with kids with profound autism and I hope this board offers you the de-stressor you need. I am a retired psychiatric nurse, so I understand the need for having something positive that we have more control over to focus on. Welcome back.
