Hi, I'm a newbie also to this forum. I am a grandma and a great-grandma. Love to quilt, only started about 7 + years now, and have made quite a few. I am working on one for daughter now from the McCall's Quilting Mag. called nine and Vines. The vines will be on the outer border with flowers appliqued. I am anxious to see all of your beautiful quilts here on the forum.

Hi Wanda, welcome from MN!! I'm assuming your "GA" means Georgia? Love the place, originally from AL, lived in Atlanta for 3 years, my sis has been there for 21 years (went to Emory) and we go back to visit about twice a year! Again, welcome to the Board!

An Alaskan welcome for you Wanda! :D :D :D

Yep, GA means Georgia......South Georgia to be exact. My dau lives in Atlanta too, and we lived up there for over fifteen years, then moved to Jacksonville, FL for seven years and moved back to Georgia almost 4 years now. We are far enough inland now to hopefully stay away from the hurricanes, because this is our last move. haha
Sounds like you've move a few times too, mamatobugboo. MN is a long ways from Alabama. I have a good friend that lives in New Ulm, MN, she was a neighbor when we were in FL, but when her husband suddenly died of a heart attack she moved back to be close to her family. This really sounds like a wonderful forum, and so nice to be among so many quilters. Wanda |
Hi Wanda--I almost missed you!!! Welcome from another Georgia girl!!!
I am south of Atlanta about 30 minutes north of Macon. Where in south GA are you? |
Hi and welcome from central part of Indiana!
|
Hi Marcia...South Georgia is Valdosta, GA....down I-75 a few miles from you. I am very familiar with Macon...we lived in Locust Grove, GA for almost 15 years before we moved to Jax, FL. Valdosta is a small GA town and we love it here. Our granddaughter goes to Valdosta State University and that's how we became interested in moving here.
Does Macon have a lot of Quilting Stores? That is one thing I miss here, and with Wal-Mart closing all their fabric sections it is hard to find fabric. We do however, have a Hobby Lobby and a Singer store that carries fabric, and I've learned to order on line also. A lot of quilting stores gives classes and that is what I miss. It's so nice to have an outlet like this forum too, and be able to discuss any problems with others that have the same interest as you. And to see all the pretty quilts everyone makes....wanda |

hello and welcome from new jersey

Hi, welcome from East Texas.

Wanda--I know where Valdosta is--my brother graduated from Valdosta State. I have an aunt and several cousins who live in Thomasville and my brother lives right outside of Thomasville in Ochlocknee.
There is a member of our board, Bonnie, who lives not too far from you in Lakeland, GA. Her board name is Bill'sBonBon. She belongs to the Withlacoochee Quilters Guild in Valdosta. I live just north of Forsyth, right off of I-75. My oldest daughter lives in Macon, so I am there frequently. There was a quilt shop in Macon for a while, but it closed several years ago. All that is in Macon now is a Hancock Fabrics and it is such a dirty rundown store that I hate to even go there. My closest quilt shop is in Jackson. There is also one in McDonough and one in Jonesboro that I shop at. It is always nice to have another "Georgia girl" on the board. :-) |
Hello Wanda you and I are neighbors almost. I live in Lakeland GA. I am bout 15 min. away from Valdosta go to Walmart there. There are 2 Walmart stores in Valdosta one on Perimiter and the other on Norman Drive. The one on Perimeter has material still was there yesterday. Maybe we can meet up sometimes. I am in a Quilting Guild in Valdosta. It meets every WED for sit and sew from 9 to 12 oclock. We hold our meetings at Grace Bible Church at 401 East Park Street. It is called Withlacoochee Quilters Guild. They are a super nice bunch. There is a quilt shop across from the Church on the next street. Get a discount if you are a member of the Guild. I am also a Grand and Grt.Grand Mother. Love Them All. There are more quilt shops close if you go on our web site,it is new for us, you will see the links.
withlachoocheequiltersguild.com You can pm me for more info I have been here for 3 yrs this may,but have been unable until this year to really get to know where I live. Bonnie Brown AKA Bill'sBonBon |
Greetings from Sacramento CA.

Another big welcome from Las Vegas, Wanda.
|
:D Hi from Florida!
|
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. This has to be the most friendly and wonderful forum of all forums!!
Marcia..I know where Forsyth is. That is too bad about Hancocks, they used to have such wonderful fabric. I haven't been in one in years, as there aren't any close by. That traffic in McDonough is pretty bad now, I guess anywhere you go towards Atlanta is bad now though. I have gotten so used to driving around in a small town and don't even have to get on the interstate to go anywhere and I'm so spoiled. lol Bonnie, so glad to meet you, I had heard about the quilting guild, but never thought I was a good enough quilter to join. I know where the Church is, but I didn't know there was a quilt shop across from it. We've only lived here about three years also, so still learning too. We definitely will have to meet up some time.....Wanda |
Hi everybody,
This looks like a happening place. I'm a newbee here, but not for long. The weather here in Ohio has been wet - perfect days for staying indoors and quilting. I'm looking forward to talking with you. PattyAn |
