I am ambidextrous... only thing I have noticed is when cutting I switch hands without even noticing. One of my friends was watching and asked me how I do that! Nice thing is that it doesn't matter where I am placed in a room, I can cut anywhere.

Welcome to the board, I have learned so much since I joined!

I am a righty but I would like to see cutting matts for lefties, I cut backwards and so I have to subtract on the matt.
Elias Howe was a lefty so machines are already made for lefties, :-)

I use right-handed scissors on my left hand...but that's only because, my teacher never had left handed scissors in her classroom (Catholic school with nuns as teachers). They thought that being left-handed was some kind of defect or something...so they would give me right-handed scissors so as to encourage me using my right hand.

I adapted and learned to use those darn scissors on my Left Hand!...LOL

I am a lefty and the main difference is I have to use left handed scissors (which cost more than righties). I have adjusted to the cutting boards etc., but I have wondered how different it would be to have a sewing machine that was made backwards, with the opening and needle on the right side instead of the left, just a curiosity, might not make any difference at all.

Very interesting thought....it's never felt backwards to me, but only because there is no other options...kinda like my scissors issue. I learned to use the RH'd scissors on my LH and my brain doesn't know anything else. If I attempt to use the LH'd scissors on my left hand now, I can't get them to cut...it's really wierd.

I just finished an attic window pattern and it was brought to my attention I may have made it backwards because I am a lefty. LOL
So maybe there are diffrences!! (small ones)

I agree with you because I'm a lefty and I can't use scissors or my rotary cutter unless they are for lefties. I hate having to subtract all the time.
