As others have said, make sure your travel and soak up the country. I spent 3 years in Giessen and managed to see most of the county. It's beautiful and is so full of history. I remember being in a small village somewheree near Kassel and closing my eyes and just listening. It's hard to describe what I "heard". Try it. Enjoy your stay.
