I have been lurking and reading every night. But I have decided to say hello tonight and introduce myself.
I live in Northern Missouri and I am brand new to quilting. I have been practing FMQ it is getting easier.I just don't know which way to go to get a design that looks nice. I have been working on a baby quilt but have ripped it apart so many times the center embroideried blocks are frayed until they are no good. And I am either cutting the strips wrong(crooked) or sewing crooked. Yes, practice makes perfect.I will try again and I am not giving up until I get it right. I can't post photos as I haven't the equipment. But I am looking forwar to lots of help and getting to know you ladies & gents  |
Welcome your gonna love it hear!...:-)

Thanks. :-D I need LOTS of help. But I have read here every night since Feb  and everyone seems so willing to help.Like family :-)
It has taken me quite sometime to figure out just how to post but hopefully I got it!! Also I bought a pkg of 2 1/2in. x 45 in. precut fabric strips. This pattern I have been trying to make calls for 2 in strips.Would it still turn out all right if I used the 2 1/2 in ones I bought?I think that is where I am ruining my strips by trying to cut off a 1/2 in? Thanks for yur RSVP. |

It took me a while to get the strips to sew staight. I finally took a post it note pad and measured on my machine where 1/4inch was. I secured the pads so that my fabric butted up to the post it notes. This helped keeping the fabric straight I still use them today but I purchased some purple plastic strips there are not as good as the post it notes. Give it a try it might make a difference! Welcome from Sammamish, WA!! I will take a pic so you can see what it looks like!
It may make the blocks / pattern bigger than expected if you use the 2 1/2 strips |
Thanks.I do use a1/4 in foot attachment. So they should be right but for some reason they are always crooked?
My father n law lives in Wenattche(spelling?) Washington. |
How cool! He is getting all of the warm weather. Today I think we made it to 70! I wish I had an answer for the crookedness(sp) I had seen the post it note thing and have used it since. I have not tried the 1/4 inch foot I may have to buy one! Take care!

I love it I actually think I am cutting them crooked. But I am not giving up as I stated before.
It was 99 here today  Supposed to be 120 tommorrow.Sure hope that's wrong! Later goodnight!!! OH! My 1/4in. attachment was like 14.00 but worth it. |

I like your idea of the post it notes. I have 1/4" feet for two different machines and neither are accurate - I'm going to try your method tomorrow.
Thanks from Australia!! |

Hi I am in Kirksville.
I figured out that my 1/4 foot attachment was a bit bent. The lady at the quilting shop fixed it for me. She also put the tape down for me that works really well. Thanks to the lady that recommended it! Also my pattern is WAAAAAAY off and I just can't figure it out.So I am just doingmy own thingy.I can cut the strips as I go and figure it out. I just can't figure out a pattern that has typo errors on it. It says to use 2 x 71/2...My strips were 2in wide so I tried adding a half inch to each of the other strips but boy that was off. So I am just going to use the strips to make some blocks the normal easy way for now! THANKS TO ALL THE WARM WELCOMES ALSO! |
