Hello all from Livonia, New York. I have been reading every post and certainly have enjoyed everything on this site. You are a wealth of information. I could spend all day reading........and not quilting or doing housework. Thank you for all your encouragement! I have been quilting for several years now and will never be one of the ones showing quilts at a show. I do love to quilt though. I have done "Quilts for Kids" and have done things for my family who seem to really appreciate the effort. I am certainly lucky in that respect. I still work in hospice and enjoy every minute and quilting is my escape. Thanks again...

Hi and welcome from Lubbock and Austin, Texas. Glad you could join us here.

Thank you for your welcome!!.......we all have jobs on this earth and I was fortunate enough that since I have been 5, I have wanted to be a nurse. Hospice is so rewarding, to know that the last days of someones life is in comfort. I can say that at times, it is very stressful, esp knowing that someone younger than you has never had the opportunity to live. I am happy that I can do this.

Welcome from the Finger Lakes. This board is like an old friend stopping by for coffee. So proud of your work with Hospice. I always vowed I would be a Hospice volunteer but find my available time is too sporadic to be of service. I bet those under your care love to see what you're working on.

Welcome from another Upstater. Not sure just where your town is, but I am north of Syracuse, about halfway between there and Watertown, in the Tug Hill area.
Great to have you with us. I was a nurse but had to leave my job due to injuries received. Now on disability but quilting is great therapy!! So true we each have our niche. I worked with the pediatric MRDD population for many years, and loved that. I still miss it, but we must play the hand life deals us as best we can. Bless you for all you do to help ease the last days of others. Hospice is a wonderful thing and those of us who have experienced it's presence in our lives will never forget the kindness and help. |
