Ihave seen many quilts my grandmother made using pre printed 18" cross stitch quilted blocks. I was wondering since they are so thin if they can be backed? already crossstitched. light cotton material ?

Welcome from a Minnesota born Missourian!
My quilters at church quilt those preprinted crossstitch blocks all the time. They need to be set with other blocks or sashing, but they quilt nicely and look good and wear well also. They need to be treated gently when washed, and used with respect, but they are fine.
