I love the Quilting Board. I have been reading it and enjoying the information for some time. I am a long time quilter but usually make them and give them away. Now I have finally have someone wanting to buy one of my quilts. It is hand the hand embroidered hole in the barn quilt that has a different quilt pattern each barn door. It is also a full size hand quilted quilt. Do any of you wonderful ladies have ideas on how much to charge?

I don't know...seems like many hours of work! Charge lots...I know the Amish quilts sell for $1000...up sometimes.

A lot will depend on where you live. Like most things the area will dictate to a degree the cost. Good luck and I can see why someone would want to buy it.

Welcome to the Board. Your quilt is amazing!! I would really have no idea what you should charge other than to say "quite a bit.". There is an unbelievable amount of work in your quilt. My only suggestion would be to visit the website www.Etsy.com. If you have never been there, it consists of probably thousands of individual shops, each selling handmade items, supplies for crafts or vintage items. Do a search of handmade quilts and check the items that come up. You can compare the size and amount of work in their quilt to yours and maybe get some idea of pricing that way. I know it will be well over $500. Good luck!!

Visit the website (quilts for sale.com) and browse around to get an idea what people are charging/getting. Their guidelines for pricing is to charge between $20 & $30 per square foot depending on the amount of work involved (yours would certainly be in the $30 range) at that rate a 72" X72" quilt = 36 square feet X $30 = $1080. You didn't say what size yours is, just multiply length X width (72" = 6' {feet} 6' X 6' = 36 square feet)

Welcome :) Your quilt is unique enough that you might consider a professional appraisal. This gives both you, the maker and the buyer comfort knowing that each has made a good deal. A good place to start:
http://www.quiltappraisers.org/. Call or email one of the appraisers close to you - they often will do appraisals at quilt shows too, and you may be able to get a general appraisal by providing photos and details of the quilt. To me, it would be worth the appraisal fee!
