My grandson loves this quilt and has asked me to make one for his kingsize bed. Does anyone know where I might get this pattern or one similar to it? I have just started quilting last October and he thinks Grandma can just do it!! I don't want to disappoint him and I think with help I can get it done. Can anyone help?

Is this applique or embroidery?

mchasteen 02-07-2011 10:49 AM

I think it's applique.

Hello and Welcome from Connecticut. I have not seen this beautiful quilt pattern. I will keep my eyes open. If I was you, I would post these pictures on another part of this website, so that more quilters can see this quilt. Good Luck :-)

don't think they sell a pattern - I bet you could 'figure it out' with slight modifications.

mchasteen 02-07-2011 04:08 PM

That is exactly it!

Thank you so much. I don't think I could do it without a pattern. I am a new quilter and wouldn't know how to even figure out how much fabric to purchase.

Greeting and welcome from New Hampshire

You could try searching on the web for good large pictures (Google Images large)
Print and use as applique patterns
If you don't do applique yet, take a class at a LQS bringing them with you.

mchasteen 02-08-2011 07:11 AM

I could get help with the applique, but the sides, which are retangular I would need a pattern. I don't know how to figure the amount of material I would need, etc. I am looking for a pattern that would enable me to do a similar shape as the quilt in question. Does that make sense?

gollytwo 02-08-2011 07:18 AM

Ask the person who'd help you with the applique to help you figure them out too. Not hard once you see how it's done.

If you need to buy fabric to make the quilt any Quilt Shop worth their salt will do that for you.
