welcome from central illinois. sorry I can't tell you what size my needle is that I'm hand quilting with, I no longer have the paper that came with it----now don't tell me I can read it on the needle 'cause there ain't enough magnifiers for me or something. It loks like greek to me!

Welcome to our Q and A. I am from central Alabama and LOVE to hand quilt. I try different sizes of needles, depending on my batting and quilt top. I prefer a sleder, short needle, but the longer ones quilt faster (*Notice, I didn't say I quilt faster!)

Thanks ladies for all the info. I've been using Dritz or Fons & Porter needles and they just bend so easily. Don't know if it's me or the needles. But yesterday I ordered Roxanne needles. Can hardly wait to try them. You all are just great.

latebloomerar 06-29-2011 01:55 PM

Welcome! I am still experimenting have tried just about all of them and I don't like the betweens. I'd rather use the sharps but the jury is still out!

Welcome! I am still experimenting have tried just about all of them and I don't like the betweens. I'd rather use the sharps but the jury is still out! :  I have tried just as many thimbles and too cheap to buy the Roxanne thimble. Current favorite thimble is the one like Roxannes that clover makes.
