Me too! I'm from north central Alabama -- Cullman County. Near I-65 between Birmingham and Huntsville. Anyone near me?

It is neat to see how many folks are from Alabama. We go to Cullman all the time, that is about the only place to get parts for my old machines. Also there is a good thrift store in Hanceville. I got a all purpose face plate and a bobbin winder rubber yesterday in Bessemer, $15.75, my husband said that is nearly as much as I gave for the machine.($20). I told him, they can charge you any amount, because they know parts are hard to come by.

What kind of machines do you have? My sewing room currently has two embroidery, serger, quilting, and three regular sewing machines. my oldest machine is a 1967 Singer Golden Touch n Sew. I have two of those. I have a commercial serger and another singer in my storage building that I don't currently use. I buy machine parts whenever I find them. There is a good thrift store in jasper also.

I have been in the thrift store in Jasper, but, they hardly ever have any sewing stuff. I have several machines, 1 Brother 1500, I quilt on. A singer 500A, 503A, 328K, 237, 201, JC Penny, Wizard, Viking 6020, singer 127 Treadle. My favorite is the 201. The thrift store in Midfield (close to Bham) usually has nice fabric, and that is where I bought my 201 w/cabinet for $50.

Anyone made either an Alabama or an Auburn quilt? I have two sons ... split (fan of each) and I'm making good on my promise from years ago to make them a team quilt. When they were teens their rooms were decorated for their team so I have some experience with these colors! lol I cross-stitched 12 to 15 things that were framed to display on their walls.

I have the Alabama top almost completed and ready to start the Auburn. I can post a pic if anyone is interested. Any suggestions?

The quilt guild that I use to belong to makes one of each every year, to raffle off. They have the blocks embroiderd with football players, helmets, footballs, etc. in the school colors, they are real pretty, I would like to do one but, I don't have an embroidy machine, I imagine the thread would be expensive, they were embroidered really dense.
