Hi, I am new to the quilter's message board, and fairly new to quilting. I have enjoyed reading your comments for a year now, learned a lot, enjoyed the community.
I am in the process of making a "bookshelf" for my sister (she is a librarian and likes to play wood-wind instruments - flutes that is). My idea is to put a flute (in paper piecing method) on the shelf, but I haven't been able to find anything like it. I have found a clarinette for applique.
Thank you for welcoming me to the community.

I LOVE bookshelf quilts!! I have the patterns printed and am trying to convince myself to try one.

Have you Googled bookshefl quilts and looked at the dozens on pictures that come up? You may find a flute idea there. Some of the things people have done with them are amazing.

Please post pictures as you go along. I need a couple of nudges to get me going on mine. :)

Hello,
thanks for the hint. And yes, that is where I found the clarinette, I think.

Thanks, I'll have to try that.

I have Sew Precise software, I'll have a look for a flute and PM you if I have one.

Well, you've set yourself up for a challenge! There's a lot of expertise here, though, so if anybody in the world can help you, that person will probably be here. Welcome to the board.

I checked the EQ6 patterns bank and there is no instrument flute, either. Someone might be able to draw it up, though. How detailed are you thinking?

Hello and Welcome!!! :D:D:D

Here is an appliqued flute pattern...if you can't find a pp one, maybe you could lay this on the shelf? We will keep looking for you though

Well, close enough that you can recognize it. But it doesn't have to be very detailed. Flutes are just not so popular. Although here in Germany it is very common to teach children flute in the very first years of school. Easy transport, not too expensive (at first)

Welcome to the forum from East Tennessee.. and good luck with your search..

Greetings from Sacramento CA.

You could also find a picture of a flute and enlarge it on a photocopier. You could applique the shape if it doesn't break easily into a paper-pieced model.

Lucky sister!
