Hi all. I am new to the board. Last night, I managed to get to chat with a few of you, but I chatted under the name "SewMaterialistic". Seems I registered, then couldn't remember the password. (I can REALLY keep secrets from myself!) Anyway, I decided to go with a shorter name, thus "2K".

I've only been quilting for about 2 years, but am totally hooked. I piece the tops, then my husband quilts them on our quilter/frame.

Sorry to be so rushed, but I just HAVE to go look at pictures. There's really nothing else about me of any interest anyway! :D

Welcome. This board is outrageously entertaining and almost as addictive as quilting. I look forward to seeing some of your creations.

Hello, and welcome from Missouri.

2K 05-22-2009 01:38 PM

Darn! Went to respond to some things and the page totally flipped. Now I'll have to count on ya'll to know what I am talking about.

Somebody has a BEAUTIFUL baby! (Baby pictured in avatar)
Somebody has a GORGEOUS cat! (Pictured in avatar - and I love my cat!)
Somebody has a small quilt I would love to see a little more close up, looks like family quilt, memory quilt, people on it anyway!

I will have to figure out how to put pics on here. Haven't even looked yet. Would LOVE to show off two quilts I just finished. I live so far in the boonies there are not many people to show things to.

Oh...then there's MadQuilter from Sacratomato! Is Denio's still in business? (Hmmm, doesn't look spelled correctly, been YEARS!) Jim Boy's Taco's still around? Wow, trip down memory lane.

2 Doods 05-22-2009 01:49 PM

Hello from Oregon 2K! Where are you? Besides out in the boonies. We are on the EDGE of nowhere-not the MIDDLE of nowhere like DD likes to think.

Moonpi 05-22-2009 02:28 PM

Welcome from Florida!

2K 05-22-2009 02:42 PM

Hahahaha! Tell me the cuties in the avatar pic are the "2 Doods"! They are ADORABLE!!

2K 05-22-2009 02:50 PM

More about me? Well...I am from out west. My home there was a lovely, large, brick building. It had the cutest little rooms, each softly padded and all white. I would have loved to have made my own room a bit more personal, but I wasn't allowed to have sharp objects back then.

At any rate, the gardens surrounding the home were plush. The beautiful foliage provided such cooling shade. It was while I was laying in the shade there that the idea crossed my mind. Suddenly, I knew I should explore what was on the other side of that very large, wrought iron gate.

Once outside the gate, I was on a great adventure. Eventually, I met and married Prince Charming. (Okay, so it WASN'T Prince Charming, but back then I believed what other people told me!)

For many years, we traveled a lot, always staying one step ahead of the paparazzi. (That is what they call those annoying guys in the white coats that carry nets, isn't it?)

For the past few years, we've found peace and quiet here in the boonies. We haven't seen even one of those paparazzi since living here. Things calmed down so much we've taken up quilting just to pass the time.

We have a few furry critters. Not quite sure as to the count anymore. Last time we checked, it was 30 deer, 1 fox, 23 turkeys, 2 Yorkies, and 2 cats. (Not sure where that second cat came from, but we think the paparazzi might have sent it in to spy on us. We're still trying to locate the camera on the cat.) That's all there is about us. We're boring.

sewjoyce 05-22-2009 03:18 PM

Hi 2k -- since my avatar is a cat, thank you for the compliment.

Please meet Mr. Emile. He's spoiled rotten and absolutely irresistable -- well, to me anyway. He follows me around all day but isn't much of a lap cat. His highness lets me know when he wants to be petted and becomes demanding if I don't. On Mother's Day he managed to bring me another present -- a baby rabbit. He can't get outside but likes to sit on our enclosed front porch where there is a small gap at the bottom of the storm door. How the heck he talked that rabbit into coming in that small space is a mystery to me....We lost the dang rabbit until Monday morning. The poor thing was just so terrified it let me pick it up with a towel and wrap him up inside. I put the towel down outside and opened up the towel a little and the poor thing just burrowed down into it again. He finally came out and seemed to be OK as he was busily eating grass when I came back inside...What's a mom to do?

Jim's Gem 05-22-2009 03:19 PM

Welcome from Southern California. Sounds you have a real zoo at you house!!!

2K 05-22-2009 03:23 PM

Mr. Emile is absolutely adorable. Poor lil bunny. Good thing you were there to determine the outcome of THAT story! Whew!

Yes, a mom's work is a struggle, isn't it!

I think I lived in the same place. Those net make you crazy. I learned how to scale the gates. Welcome!

2K 05-22-2009 03:35 PM

Wow, it IS a small world. How lucky to run into a neighbor from my past. Glad to see you here. Perhaps we can renew our friendship!

Did you find that "Doorman" as offensive as I did? Geesh! He REALLY got on my bad side the very first day I lived there. Made me wish I hadn't purchased the place.

Doorman?! What doorman? I never put a down payment on this place. They let me ramble around, hoping I would leave. I eventually did. Be Aaaaaafraid........... The shock treatments helped. You are a funny girl!!!

2K 05-22-2009 04:10 PM

I never was much on the shock treatments, but I did enjoy the massage therapy. Such fun, such memories. I would just runnnn... All the mansion employees that wore white would follow me to my special corner of the gardens. Once there, they would just rolllll me about and stretch my arms and legs for me. Afterwards, they would carry me back into the mansion (by then I was far too relaxed to walk on my own) and let me lay down on that really soft bed with the straps. You know, the ones that keep your arms stretched out nicely so you don't get those dreaded arm cramps.

Ah yes. I so loved that place. Never found such wonderful employees again after leaving there.

Yes, as I search my memory, I do believe I remember you.

pocoellie 05-22-2009 04:16 PM

2K-where are you located? I'm in the boonies too.

Yup! Those are the Doods. Riley (Black one) is a goldendoodle. 1/2 golden retrev and 1/2 standard poodle. She is from Oklahoma. Yukon Jack (red head) is a labradoodle back cross and is 1/4 labrador and 3/4 standard poodle. He is from Idaho. Allergies! Allergies! Had to find a way to have a dog in my life. These are non-shed and they live in the house too  They don't bother me at all.

Our 2 cats are kind of wild and live in the shop and run/hunt outside. They will let you pet but not pick them up. They sure have taken care of the gophers this year-Bless Them!

We have 29 acres just inside the boundery of "the boonies". Less than 5 miles to the nearest chocolate  but 15+/- miles away from LQS  Love it here and don't plan to ever live "in town" again!

My prince is out on a rented back hoe diging holes to plant rhodies so I can have more privacy in my yard. Good thing we have 29 acres for him to play on. A boy with his toy! Like a giant Tonka truck. He is having fun and it is OK because he is well away from power, phone and water lines!

K2: Welcome. We're glad you found us. Have to comment that your mom and dad sure COULD have given you an imagination while they were making you...your life description that you call boring sounds pretty darn fun to me. Welcome. I think you'll enjoy it here and I promise, no poparfazzi's or camera packin kitties here. Just us hens and an occassional rouster hangin in and learning quilting tips and things from each other. Glad you're here.

Oh, I'd bet there is a LOT more about you that will interest us. I think we'll get to know you little by little if you keep in touch with us. And you will learn a lot from all of these great people. Tell your DH that there are men-folk on the board too. Once you're hooked on sitting at the computer and learning all about these people and the wonderful work that they do, you won't have much time to quilt. If you have a problem of any kind, just drop in and there will be lots of help and many opinions of value. I have learned a tremendous amount about quilting as well as about the kindness and generosity of the members. Welcome aboard from South Louisiana.
