My name is Debbie and I live in Florida. I have tried quilting years ago but recently got back into it. Now I have more time at home, taking care of Mother-in-law that has Alzheimers. Well, to keep my sanity, I now quilt. I made a couple of lap quilts for hubby and me; and that seemed to turn out okay. Then I decided to tackle a king-size comforter quilt and make it on "my home sewing machine". What a nightmare. But I did manage to do it (LOL took me a year) I would stop and start.....sporadically. To work with it, I had to quilt it in four pieces to join together. Initially, I tried to quilt the whole king sized quilt in one piece and just couldn't handle the weight. So doing it in pieces worked for me since I am such a novice. Since that time I have made 2 baby quilts for showers; and am getting ready to make a snuggle quilt for hubby, cause he loves quilts so much!
By the way, we cruise whenever we can. And now that they put these heavy down comforters on the beds; which I can't stand (I'm such a hot rock); I think it would be nice to take a couple of lap quilts with me to cuddle up with instead of those monstrous heavy down coverlets. Anyway, I am glad to have found this board. Happy sewing and hello from Debbie |
