HI! I'm Sharon & I joined about 2 weeks ago, but have been "lurking". Today I saw a topic I just HAD to get into. I live in Tulsa, my sister & I are members of Muskogee Area Quilters Guild because we're from Muskogee & know everybody there. We also have a Gamill long-arm purchased about 15 years ago. We haven't updated it because we still enjoy quilting the old way. I paid for my share of the machine by quilting for others, but stopped when I found I wasn't doing any quilting for myself. My sister still does some quilting for others & we both quilt for our guild charity programs. I've been a quilter since I was a teenager, but really got involved in the late 70's when you couldn't find 100% cotton anywhere. So I'm not new to quilting but still consider myself a beginner sometimes. There's always something new to learn. I have fallen in love with "One Block Wonder" & purchased fabric for 3 more before I've even finished my first. Certainly hope I don't run out of enthusiasm before I make all of them. So glad to join the board. I've been reading various topics & you all sound like very nice, friendly, helpful people.

Thanks so much for your welcome. I just wanted to let you know you were the first. I don't know how I'm going to have time to quilt I'm already spending so much time on this web site. You all sound so friendly (I think that trait is born in quilters) and helpful. quilterfly

Welcome from northern Texas! I love your town! I did a secret shop there sometime ago at a hotel. Took a quilting friend of mine, and we sewed until the wee hours of the morning and then tours some of your older beautiful homes in the area....Found the Vets place up on top of the hill, and confirmed that we needed more support for our returning troops....so we made 100 wheel chair caddy type things. Your town is inspiring, and has a great history.
Hope you like this board, and hope to see you often here. just jan |
