Hi everyone,
I'm Beverly from Tx. My mother n law and Aunt did quilting the old fashioned way with the quilting frame that hangs from the ceiling, so hubby built me a frame too. I have made four quilt tops and now need to learn to finish them. I have just been teaching myself but I have a friend who has done quilts for years and will help when she can as we live about 45 miles apart. I'm so frustrated but really love quilting. I'll be asking a lot of questions so bear with me! |

Welcome from Indiana.
I'm sorry you feel so bad about quilting - but you've come to the right place. We love to answer questions! Quilting is a lot of learning and practice, practice, practice! For myself I say I'm "nervous" to try new parts of the 'quilting' process. At first it was different 'techniques' for making blocks correctly...over that! :) I love making blocks now! Then it was matching seams correctly when putting tops together...over that! :) You should see the tops I put together so far. Then it was 'birth' a quilt and then stitch in a ditch...one baby quilt done and given as a gift - 2 more to go and I'll be ...over that! :) The next thing I feel 'nervous' to do is Layer, pin, quilt and then Bind a LARGER quilt |

Hello from Western Oregon! The big thing about hand quilting is that it is slower. You need to be able to take a few hours at a time to sit at the frame. It can be very relaxing, and is especially nice when you have someone helping you.
