New to the group and new to sewing
Hello,
I am completely new to sewing. I have a 2 year old daughter and initially was interested in sewing because I want to make my own cloth diapers/trainers for her. I've been dying to get my hands on a sewing machine and my mother in law lent me a Brother machine (1990s) that I haven't successfully gotten to work so I kind of gave up on the idea. My mother recently gave me a vintage Precision SewMagic machine (1950s I think) that belonged to my great grandmother. It completely reignited the idea of learning to sew for me and I now am determined to learn. I would love to make homemade items for my daughter and learn to quilt. The machine works, but I don't even know how to thread it properly. Can anyone help me get started? Thanks! :o |
Do you have a local quilt shop or fabric shop? If you do, load it up and take it to them...I am sure someone there can help you. Welcome from Kentucky!

When you google "how to thread precision sewing machine" many videos come up. Maybe one of those is your machine.

Hi Happi and welcome from California. You might be able to find a manual, etc. for the machine at this website.
"This is an initial list of all the available downloadable sewing machine manuals, service manuals, parts lists and instructions that could be located." http://www.ismacs.net/free-sewing-ma...uals-list.html |

Welcome to the QB from wet, wet Washington. If you can post a picture of your sewing machines on the Vintage Sewing Machine forum someone will gladly tell you how to thread your Precision sewing machine or even how to get your Brother to operate. The precision could be a Japanese clone of a Singer class 15.

Hello Happi!
Welcome from Minnesota! Have fun! :) |
HI AND WELCOME I hope this machine does you well. Many years ago when I really wanted to learn how to sew I was given a machine that caused me grief every time I sewed so I did not sew too much untill years later I purchased a very nice machine for myself. So my advice is to make sure you get yourself a machine that you are happy with.
