New guy here.....
Hi all! Nice to have found the site. I'm just getting back into quilting after not having done anything for a very long time. I've been inspired over the years by my Grandma's work. She was the last in a long line of quilters, and since she's passed on, no one else in the family has carried on the tradition. Hoping to change that!
In looking around there don't seem to be a lot of guys into quilting, so I'm interested in seeing if maybe there are other guys out there who share a similar interest. Of course I'm interested in learning from everyone else too! I just finished a small baby quilt as a gift for a friend who is due early in the new year, I have four more quilt patterns picked out and fabric on hand, and I've joined a BOTM club..... so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze a bit of quilting time in 2015! Hope to meet a lot of folks with similar interests! Nate |
Welcome to QB there are several men here who quilt.
I personally am always happy to see and hear from men who quilt. |
Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Gender doesn't matter, a quilter is a quilter. :)

There are more male quilters on the board than evidently you've seen. Some also repair. Isewman does a lot of handquilting. Go to the different photos and look at someof the quilts by men. Right now am not bringing to mind all but you're not the only male quilter. Great that you're carrying on the tradition of family quilters. Would love to see photos of your projects. AND BTW welcome to the board. My manners nearly escaped me.

Welcome from Al. It is always great to hear from men who quilt. I have several men friends who quilt who are not on this board, husband is one of them.

Welcome, we're glad you joined us. There are quite a number of male quilters here. It sounds like you're getting the "quilting bug" for sure. We love pictures.

Welcome Nate. There are several famous male quilters. :) Google and I bet you will be surprised. Right off the top I think of Patrick Lose, Kaffe Fassettt, Ricky Timms, etc. so you are in Good Company! So happy to hear you are interested in carrying on the family tradition.

Welcome to our big, happy quilting family.

Welcome from middle Tennessee. Check out Ricky Tims (one m or two?); he is my most favorite man quilter, along with Mark Lipinski. See about making a trip to Paducah (or the one in Pennsylvania); wonderful quilt shows where you learn a lot and have a wonderful time learning at the same time.
And show us your sewing machines..... |
Welcome to the QB from south west Ontario Canada.

Welcome from Central California!

Welcome from South Louisiana. Got a husband who is willing to use the long arm or do upholstery, but won't sew a quilt seam. Wish he would. We could get a lot more accomplished.
|
Welcome to the board, Nate! You're sure to make lots of friends here. Someone is always willing to lend a helping hand with any questions you may have. A great group of people!

Welcome from Michigan!:)

Welcome to the QB Nate, from along the Delaware River. We are almost neighbors.
I agree that there are few men that understand and embrace quilting and I have always found it strange. It involves math, machines and creativity, what's not to love! Thanks for joining the conversation. peace |
Hi Nate, Welcome to the site. Everybody helps on the board. I had a friend that knitted, but he didn't want people to know. If his wife wasn't able to go with him, he would ask his sister to go with him to the store. If you have the de-sire, and the talent be proud of yourself!!! Post pictures.

Welcome to the board! Men make good quilters, we need more. I`m in mid Wis. live on a farm & did all kinds of man work, as well as other farm wives. You will find quilting a relaxing art. I`m looking forward to seeing some of your work. I`m far from a real good quilter, but enjoy it.

Hi Nate, Welcome from California! I don't personally know any guys who quilt... but I also don't know many people my age who quilt (I'm 23). Can't wait to see what you create!
