New guy from WV. Yes I said Guy.
My name is Michael or Mike. My first quilt was over 8 years ago, and I have made 4 to date. I made the first one and thought that maybe I should look at a few books on the subject and picked out a sampler quilt as a project. I went thru the book and picked out the patterns I liked. Not knowing that the patterns were for the advanced quilter after I had finished it.
I have my Grandmother's Star quilt she made in 1922, and it is in bad shape. I wanted to make a copy for myself and kids to have. So I took a class on the star pattern quilt. On the 2nd class meeting I brought in my sampler to show the teacher, and she said to me, " Why are you taking my class, you don't need it" |

Hi Mike!
Welcome from Minnesota! Sure would like to see a picture of that quilt! :) |
A hearty southern Kentucky welcome to you Mike. I'm a wanna be quilter who loves the vintage machines out there from times when quilting was a necessity, not just a passion. My Miss Penny is the actual quilter and together we make a great pair. My grandfather quilted by hand back in the 60's when he retired from farming. A man's man, you didn't mess with granddaddy. I'm an open-speaking sewing machine enthusiast at the factory I work in, and enjoy the looks I get when I talk about my hobby to the other men. You can see some examples of my other hobby in my avatar. Ruger revolvers and a smattering of Bond Derringers (arg arg) Don
