Another welcome from So. California! The men on this board do some phenomenal work, and we're glad you're going to join them. As everyone said, we LOVE pictures, so don't be shy about posting pics of your efforts. There's a lot of talent on this board, and someone can answer just about any question you can come up with. And we're friendlier than a pack of hound dogs!

Do you REALLY want us to make you feel at home? lol
Do you do windows? Dishes?
Hmmm....you quilt, do you cook? Do laundry?
Do you like nice weather all the time. If so, do I have a place for you! :) :) Just bring your stash...oh heck, if you clean, I'll share....maybe! ;)

mytwopals 05-12-2009 06:54 AM

Melissa, Do you really want your husband to quilt? That would mean sharing your sewing room and stash. You'd no longer have a place to call your own. And who would watch those beautiful kids, while all that sewing was going on?

amma 05-12-2009 12:25 PM

Hello and Welcome!!! :D :D :D

Eddie 05-12-2009 02:15 PM

Thanks, again, everyone!

Hmmm, well, better be careful what you wish for - my wife and daughter may get tired of me and kick me out to the garage!

Do you like tropical islands? Sandy beaches? Cool nights under the stars?
(this is sounding like it's going in the WRONG direction, yes? lol Reminding me of the Pina Colada song. LMAO)
oops...mind wandered for a minute....
There would be no yard work involved....I have a gardener that does that. Hmmm......Your sewing machine looks mighty nice..ok, it's your wife's that looks nice, but mine does pretty much what hers does, so ok, bring her too. (the wife, that is. lol) She would probably want a vacation too.
How long could you stay? I have to live here for about another year. Can you stay that long?
Did I mention I can make fru-fru drinks with tiny umbrellas?
When can you be here?

FancyFoot 05-12-2009 04:02 PM

Welcome from Southern Oregon.

texasannie 05-13-2009 08:36 AM

Wecome Eddie from Texas!! If your wife and daughter are into sewing you already have a lot of the lingo down, but I hope occasionally you will throw in one of those descriptions of "the floppamahatchie" so I can rub in on my husband that men do the same thing!!! Just kidding!!

Welcome!

dlf0122quilting 05-13-2009 08:41 AM

Welcome Eddie, I love to see men get involved in quilting. Look at Ricky Timms work for one. We also have some men on this forum and they do wonderful quilting. Please ask all the question you need to or help us out when we are "stuck" and consider all of us part of your quilting family.
I live in Southern California just outside San Diego and we have a man in our guild who does some nice quilting and he has a blast at the meetings with all us gals. It is nice to get some male influence mixed in. Welcome!

Welcome from Battle Creek, Michigan, home of Kellogg and Post Cereals.
It's a good place to live. You can always eat cereal in this town, if you're too busy sewing and quilting.

JCL in FL 05-13-2009 05:53 PM

Welcome Eddie. This is a great place for you to learn. There are many talented people on this site and someone will be able to answer any question you may have. There is a variety of projects and a wide range of tastes, something for all. And we have other men here too. How nice to have a separate sewing area. Your family will enjoy the space.

johnette 05-13-2009 06:11 PM

Welcome from southern OK, Eddie. You'll have fun here and learn a lot to boot.

Feathers 07-02-2009 04:34 AM

Welcome, Eddie. We're glad you joined us. I think it's wonderful that you, your wife and your daughter can all pursue your sewing hobbies together. My DH isn't into sewing or quilting but he's great to help me cut out blocks; arrange blocks in different ways to form new patterns and I love his opinions. With the 3 of you working in the same sewing area you'll not only learn from each other but also have some quality time together. Great arrangement. Good for you guys.

Late getting to this post but a big welcome from Newfoundland, Canada!

Are you a handyman? I have a few little jobs that need completed....

Living in Guam with Terri might be nice on her island, but hey my island is nice too!!! How does viewing beautiful icebergs just along our coastline sound to you? Whale watching? beautiful hikes along our scenic coastline? Pretty quilt shops, stand on the most easterly point in North America at Cape Spear Lighthouse (only a 20 minute drive here from the city)? How about (depends on the age of your daughter as she may or may not be of age), walk along and take in George Street (one of the oldest streets here in St. John's) and all it's finery of over 50-60 bars, Irish pubs, clubs, jazz bars and more. ooh not to mention the food here is AWESOME! We have a spare room and a big sewing studio for all of you to sew in.

Think about it!!! :)

Cheers
Andrea
