I am from Kentucky where it is COLD right now and snowing!!! Good time to be inside and quilting. Have so many UFOs that I will NEVER start anything "new" if I wait until I finish them all up!!!
Will be married 27 years the 22nd of this month. My husband will cut my pieces but can't get him to "sew"!!! He will help any other way!!! He asked when we got married, “How come a woman will take a perfectly good piece of material, cut it up into little bitty pieces and then sew it back together again?” After my answer he has never asked again and has been willing to cut my pieces for me ever since!!!!
I have four grown children all left home (one in the Army in South Korea) and only one granddaughter. She is 3 1/2 and wants me to teach her how to Quilt!
Have a picture that I want to post to a board and can't seem to find out how!! Know it must be simple...that is why I can't do it!!! Hee hee

Welcome from St. Louis.
I saw flurries this morning, but it is right above freezing now, so we should be okay! Quilting is the answer though!
There is a tutorial on how to post a picture and it works! But it took me some time to be able to do it. Perservere! We love pictures!
Get another quilter in the family to share your passion! How wonderful to have a piece cutter upper right there! I have to do all my own everything! But I don't have to pick up after anyone else either, so I guess it washes. :P

Welcome Mary!
You can find the step by step instructions to post pictures here -

http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/429.page

Like anything else, it's easy once you do it a few times. The key is using a jpeg or jpg format, and keeping the file size down.

Hi Mary and welcome from Texas. Glad you joined us. I have a grandson who is 3 1/2. Aren't grandkids the best. He likes to sit in my lap and "sew". He's helped me make a blanket and a quilt for him.

Well, it was nothing earth shattering that I told him about the cutting of the material, just showed him the “pattern” of one I was working on at the time and explained that a solid piece was not as pretty!! LOL He told me not to expect him to sew but he would help cut! And for 27 years he has kept his end of the deal! I draw on the wrong side and he cuts while watching TV. He will not try the rotary yet.
My granddaughter (3 1/2) wants to try to piece but she is a little young for that at this time. I will try to keep her interested which will not be hard as she tries to do everything someone else is doing. Sometimes I let her “help” me and she thinks that she is doing something great.
I think I will like it here. It seems really nice here. I will be here probably a lot since I found this site. At least until I have to go back to work. I had knee replacement in Sept. and didn’t do very well.
Mary

Snow?

Would it be wrong to tell you guys that my kids spent most of today in the swimming pool, and my partner got sunburned sitting outside keeping an eye on them! lol

I'm another Mary from Tennessee. It was cold here today in Memphis, but not enough to do anything exciting!

Hi and welcome from Mass.

I like the answer you gave your hubby. since mine is always ya-ya-ing at me (thinks he's quite funny, he does), I probably would have said something like, "I handle fabric the same way I do men. I take what's there and improve on it!" btw, welcome from Florida 8)

Welcome Mary from another Kentuckian. It's cold and slick here today and the kids are off school. Guess I'll stay home from work and sew!
